DescriptionSitting here in the midst of a snow storm … already dreading the shoveling tomorrow… so what can cheer me up??How about posting a OA dream come true??? Uncanny X-men 175 was my first comic as a boy… I’m on record many places saying how that was the perfect issue to introduce me to the world of marvel heroes.. the X-men specifically and the reason I’m now in my 40s collecting comic art! I’m also on record saying the splash page from the book would be my ultimate grail piece! Well my friend Joe has no intentions of selling … and even if he did the amount would not be easy! Buttttt… thanks to some help from a friend and a very nice artist I was able to commission Paul Smith himself to recreate it for me! Paul made some subtle changes (see additional images for the published) to if you can believe it or not actually in my opinion improve it! Absolutley stunned I was able to get him to do this and completely and utterly happy to own it! Social/Sharing |

Your first issue, yet it was Paul Smith's exit. He did end it with one of his best efforts in this double size extravaganza that brought this memorable image as those who missed out on the Dark Phoenix saga got a glimpse at her in full glory. They hadn't exploited bringing her back all the time as they do now, so it was a rare treat. This recreation brings the same surprise and power as it did then. With fresh inks from Paul Smith, the glory of the Dark Phoenix is resurrected once more.

Congrats on getting Paul Smith to recreate this page! Kinda wish he also did the word balloons, but the linework is phenomenal.
