Final page from Divine Intervention: Gen 13, from the last Jim Lee Image saga. Jim Lee did the layouts for this page which is one of the last stories he worked on before leaving Image for WildStorm. His pencils and style can be seen on the additional pics. Carlos Danda changed quite a few things as you'll be able to see in the published version of the page. Awesome inks by Scott Williams. Art is in excellent condition. Please see the additional pics to check the following points: Jim Lee is credited for the cover and the story only, yet you can definitely see his pencils before Danda worked upon his layouts. It was a very busy time for Lee with the WildStorm transition: his lines in this issue were too simple sometimes, and some other lines were better and tight, so it was not Lee in every inch of every page. But Danda style can not go so close to Lee style without Lee style being under there as the guide, and his pencils show better with close-ups. These are the steps used in the creation of this page: 1) Blue layout with body figures (Lee) 2) Pencil layout with lots of unused lines (Lee) 3) Final pencil lines using Lee guide (D’Anda) 4) Inks (Scott Williams) The girl's face and sword were also changed in the published version. The character was the girlfriend of the main character who just turned into a villain, so the angry face Lee sketched was not right for the girlfriend who is told to kill her love. It seems that Carlos D'Anda was asked to show her face worried instead... and the new face (in the published version) does not look like Lee's anymore. The sword had to be narrowed too. A giant sword was seen handled by the big guy who gives it to the girl, so Lee and D'Anda finished the giant sword first. The problem came later, because she would have to handle the sword all the time in the last issue... and throw it to his boyfriend's chest to kill him. So the sword had to be narrowed in the end (in the published version). Cover quality! And awesome page. Social/Sharing |
