The butch but blown out haircut, leather jacket and gloves were the buzz back then for a tough take charge woman action hero as seen in many early 80's music videos. Look at the way Wrightson does every fold and wrinkle of the jacket and tree contrasted with the smooth and sleek look everywhere else!
