#OAX2024 pickup

Mark Nelson is the definitive Aliens artist. I've been searching for a published splash or cover for a little while. They are hard to come by, that's for sure.

I'm happy to grab this cover quality, 12" x 17" piece from CAF Live's dueling dealers and pick it up at OAX.

It was originally done for the Baltimore Comic-Con charity auction.

Love the detail Mark is known for!

I've never seen a mechanized Alien. He still has that menacing look we all adore!

Beautiful piece! Wow ... First dinosaurs, now Aliens! What's next? Sentient Robots who come back in time to murder the woman who will give birth to the little boy who will grow up to lead a human revolution against them? Wow that would make a great movie. Honey, get Hollywood on the phone!

Such a primal force! Nelson's Alien commands your full attention and puts you in alert with it's sole purpose to kill anything it senses! He shows so many levels of illustrative techniques just to have him sit, wait, and drool until the next victim comes along.

Gorgeous piece!! I love all the cross-hatching plus the "robotization" of the alien while keeping him totally recognizable! Amazing pickup!!!

AWESOME piece, James. I was lucky enough to be in the room when this one was auctioned off, and seeing it up close was quite the thrill. The grey paper adds so much weight and atmosphere to the piece (essential elements in any depiction of the xenomorphs) and allow both the deep black shadows and extreme phosphorous-level white flash to mix in a heady recipe of artistic muscle and terrifying execution (and when you see one of these beasts this close up, that's "execution" in more ways than one...). EPIC piece, James! Congrats!
