Description

A moment ago the crews of Captain Raader and and Black Bess were locked in mortal combat, but now they must unite to flee a barrage of cannonballs from the Imperial armada. Can they escape together on Raader's space galleon?

In the first panel, Canonballs splash in the bay. And check the sweat dripping from Raader's brow in the second panel. Isherwood gets extra points for consistency in the last panel, an overhead long shot depicting both the hilltop mansion where the pirates had been fighting, as well as the harbor below, in which their evacuation craft awaits. We saw a reverse angle on this scene on an earlier page, looking up at the mansion from the docks. Note the staircase built against the cliffside. The hovering Imperial galleons sport a mixture of low and high tech, in keeping with the series' themes.

Let's go Raader Nation! They could have just bombed Captain Raader's and Black Bess' docked ships and the comic would have been over. Good thing the Imperial Armada are rookies in warfare tactics.
