Description

Aaron Conley donated a really fun Rocketeer piece to the Cartoon Art Museum's Dave Stevens Tribute benefiting their public programs/exhibitions as well as the Hairy Cell Leukemia Foundation in honor of Dave Stevens.

Aaron's style works great on this rendition as Cliff struggles to save Betty from the clutches of King Kong!

Fun giant ape energy! King Kong's facial expression is the first thing to key on for the level of intensity that Rocketeer plays against. The poses and body language of Cliff and Bettie are also very calculated cartooning to express the sleek look in contrast to the wild and wooly ape.

Love Conley's cartoon style and it's great seeing the Rocketeer and Kong get the treatment...it's so clearly Aaron :) Also some great tone work! Congrats!

Hah! Love this illustration of the Rocketeer battling King Kong! What a cool movie that would make! Betty is, of course, the Fay Wray of the film. And Cliff Secord joins the pilots in WWI aircraft who are shooting at the big ape. This could be big!
