Description

first met Nick Pitarra at the late and not very lamented Space City Comic Con when it held its initial show at the Westin Galeria Hotel back in 2012! Manhattan Projects by Jonathan Hickman and Nick had been out for about 5 issues that I hand not picked up. Nick talked me into buying them and I was hooked.

Nick's art style is a clear descendant of Moebius by way of Frank Quitely with a smidge of Geof Darrow thrown in.

Nick recently decided to self-publish and self-fund his own original story through Zoop - Ax-Wielder Jon. The campaign was a huge success; he tired for $25K and ended up with about $250K! Read this for a few sample pages and some background.

I backed Nick's campaign back in April of 2022 at the bookplate level. The description read:

Of course, by the time the book arrived, I'd forgotten two things:

The size of the "bookplate" and
That it would be freestanding

I was a little surprised when this came out of the box. Yeah, they forgot to number it, but I don't care. It's awesome. I haven't mounted it in my book at this point though it will fit (7x10) in the book.

Anyway, it's a good story with five more to come. Looking forward to them.

Looks great on the parchment paper. Right out of the fantasy world where you get that crude and raw feel!
