DescriptionPage 12 for "De gyldne æbler" by Daan Jippes published in Anders And & Co. 2007-41 (Egmont, 2007) written by Geoffrey Blum upon a plot by Carl Barks. 41x57cm. Signed.In 1952, Carl Barks sent Western the 10 pages of the original comic "Donald Duck - Golden Apples" to be published in Walt Disney Comics & Stories #144. Initially, it was accepted and supposedly paid for, but it was rejected by a new editor just before printing ("story involved unladylike actions from Daisy, which probably would be considered objectionable by too many parents"), resulting in the original art being lost or destroyed. In 2002, commissioned by Egmont, writer Geoffrey Blum rewrote the comic based on the author's memories, and Daan Jippes illustrated that script. You will note that the farmer with binoculars is a caricature of Barks. That's aweome! Ally McVeal, Magica, and Daisy for the save! Jippes does a fine job telling the story keeping track of so many characters in motion.
