Issue #1 was one of the most iconic comics of the 1980s, and Golden's work on that premium paper never looked better. Wonerful!

Prime Marvel Golden page, congrats. I loved his bulkier Spidey.
He absolutely made it work in a way we had not seen before.
Pretty cool way for these inventory stories to get published and get good money for them too with the baxter paper that really showed off the best of Michael Golden! The rich colors and the inks on that glossy paper with the Golden art are so memorable!
The colors on the Baxter paper gave it the extra oomph that would not have been appreciated otherwise. The line work is incredible.

Wow, how is Spidey going to get out of THIS one?! Spidey has been in a lot of scrapes before, but the way this page is beautifully laid out and constructed, you get a true sense of utter hopelessness, accentuated by that final all black panel. Congrats on an incredible Michael Golden page! Love that second panel with Vertigo.

When you see these early Golden pages it's easy to see why everyone was enflamed by his work! Wow.
I still remember picking up Fanfare #1 on the stands for the first time. I just thought it was so cool. Really nice, slick, paper and that absolutely gorgeous Golden cover with Spidey in the clutches of a pterodactyl. The art in those first two issues are incredible. Decades ago, I had a lead on the T-Rex splash from the second issue, but it never panned out. Anyway, congrats on this fantastic end page.

Agreed, this was such a great book. I remember seeing the books on the wall of Comic Investments and not being able to afford them, and befriending a collector, Bruce, who became a friend and let me read his copies because I couldn't afford them. Definitely left an impression.
