Description
"A Passion of the Mind!" by Gerry Conway. Cover date November 1972.

Puppet Master takes control of a Skrull scout, not realizing that it has the same mental frequency as the Vision. When he goes to attack the Baxter Building and the Fantastic Four, he ends up facing the Vision and Spider-Man instead. (GCD)

We learn by story's end that the Skrull used the scout during the Kree-Skrull War, which is marvelously told in Avengers #89-#97.

Great early issue with lots of distinctive Gil Kane faces and dynamism!  Kane helped define the look of 70's Marvel with expressive art in every title he worked on.

It's a very nice Kane/Esposito page that gets massive bonus points from me for Gerry Conway's use of the past tense form of "illume" (helping to improve seven-year-old me's vocabulary).

So Puppet Master is going to recover Crab Meat from the Alien ship in which crabs were previously taken away from a previous Skrull visit. With this he will make a hypnotic food additive that will help him TAKE OVER THE WORLD!!!!
