Raymond really pushed the boundaries of comic art with some of his work on this strip. Never resting and trying out new techniques and evolving his style thourgh out the series really makes this detective/romance series stand out. The lighting and technique in the second panel is sublime and would have been the kind of art that other artists borrowed from to solve some of their artistic problems.

I love Alex Raymond's work. The composition is so clean and the layouts so interesting, the figurework is so precise and the faces, so well drawn. And of course, the inks are always superb. Love this example, with three completely different layouts for the three panels. I love that second panel with both a silhouette and elaborate crosshatching (Very Carol Day?). Great pick-up, congrats!
