“The Dognapper” Mickey Mouse and Long-Billed Donald Duck Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1934)

I recently picked this up from Heritage and couldn't wait to post it. I have always wanted a piece of Disney art from the 1930's. This piece is from a David Hand Directed 1934 Disney short called The "Dognapper". This animation drawing can be found at the 1:09 mark in the short.

Mickey and Donald take the role of police officers and are chasing the Dognapper Peg Leg Pete, who stole Minnie's dog Fifi.

A couple of interesting pieces of trivia from this film is that this is the only time that Mickey Mouse was voiced by Clarence Nash in the shorts, as Walt was in Europe and unable to record. (Clarence Nash being the voice actor for Donald Duck).

Additionally, a film called Orphan's Benefit, which came out in 1934 was the first time Donald was seen in a Mickey Mouse series film, which made it their first joint appearance. Donald had only previously appeared in the Silly Symphony Series called “The Wise Little Hen”. Orphans Benefit was the 68th short. The Dognapper was the 70th short, so this is very early animation of the two characters together. From what I can find this is the second short with them together and only the 3rd film Donald Duck was ever in. Thus Donalds early long billed appearance.
