For me, Ross' technique just underscores that to be a great painter, you must be a great pencil artist.

I would spray this with a light coat of fixative to preserve the pencils from smudging.

A themed wall and this is the showcase piece in the middle of that section! Ross' pencils are so tight and there is no illusion to it as we all have put a pencil to paper before and for most of us, we can't accomplish something like this to save our lives.
