This is the first of two consecutive pages from Joelle Jones' Lady Killer (the first mini-series). I first fell in love with Joelle's work on this series and have been following her ever since. This page is a masterclass in cinematic storytelling. From the set design, to character "casting", to the multiple levels of action in each panel, this one hits all the right notes.

Very nice old style decor and fashion to bring a slice of China to the restaurant when it was seen as exotic. It immediately sets this place and time as these traditional restaurants are a dying breed. I could imagine the old boss lady asking if they're ready to order yet to mess up what is being overheard.
