One of the best stories from this incredible run.  And although they were approaching the end of their stint, Byrne and Austin were still firing on all cylinders.

It is hard to properly describe the impact this issue had on comics history. But leaving aside the historical significance , it is a beautiful page in its own right .

Epic and legendary just doesn't quite cover it.  Takes me back to the days when X-Men was required reading for any comics fan.  One of the best stories in all of comics by the master team of Claremont, Byrne and Austin!  And Rachel's 1st appearance makes this art a grail to be cherished.  Many congrats!

One of the best single issues of a comic published up to that point. Seeing the lettering on the page really makes me miss it — Especially since the consequentialness of this page as a massive story element could be lost without it.

My favorite X-men issue of all time, so outside of the box when it came out that I did not know what to make of it. One of the best written and drawn stories in comics history for my money. Thanks for sharing.

The third panel shows Chris Claremont spoiling Byrne's storytelling. Clearly the wheelchair coming in off-panel was meant to have the reader assume that it was Xavier, with the reveal that it's actually Magneto in the next panel. But Claremont has Kate exclaim "Magneto!" so the whole point of the setup was lost.
