DescriptionIt was back in the day(1967) when I first saw Jack Kirbys Captain America(T.O.S.) on the spinner rack and it floored me! When the T.O.S.book split and became their own individual titles, Kirbys' Captain America seemed to come into his own and got even better! So here I am today, some 57 years later still collecting, but on the comic art side of things and still withthe greatest enthusiasm I had as a youngster. Social/Sharing |

Beautiful Kirby action with lovely Shores embellishments to give the finished look a slight touch of realism.

I like the bottom two panels the most! Cap drawn with spot inks and without like Kirby wanted to show the Golden Age and the Silver Age versions of Cap side by side!

What an excellent Kirby Cap page! Classic Kirby action choreography in every panel--this is exactly the kind of kinetic storytelling that Kirby changed the entire medium with. Also I've always felt that Shores is underrated as a Kirby inker--really nice, lush inks here; the inking and particularly the spotting of black ink plays a role in the page's storytelling.

It took me awhile to appreciate Syd on Jack, but I now think he did a very good job on his Cap run. Congrats on adding this gem to your collection !
