Description

Once I found out Bart Sears was going to be at Heroes 2024, I knew I had to take my X-O Page with me for him to sign. While he was signing my page, his wife let me peek through his roughs and layouts from some of his penthouse comics works. Nothing titillating enough for me. But his PG rated potfolios had plenty of desirable pieces.

Unusual layouts really grab my eye. Unusually cheap pages do too. This page checked both those boxes. Sometimes, when the layout is eye-catching, I don't even see what is inside of the panels. It's all about the layout. That's the story with this page.

I had picked up a 6-full-width-vertical panel page from a comic art live sale (Violator 1, pg 20). This one was kind-of the same, but very different. When it is paired with the next page of the story it becomes that much more unusual. I'll post that page another day.

As an added bonus, Bart was next to Marco Rudy......

Very cool and unusual layout. Crossgen probably gave more leeway to their veteran creators. The shapes of these panel must have had some freehand work by Sears.
