Description

Carlos is an excellent sniper but a bit too greedy. He's outnumbered two-to-one but has the high ground. He ought to hold his position and wait for reinforcements. But he wants the bounty all to himself, so he leaves his secure position. First, the dialogue from page 69, which I don't own:

“I'm almost there... go!” (Carlos unloads against Uriaga’s pancho, but it’s empty, draped over a rock.) “Damn! A decoy!”

(Mister No calls out behind Carlos) “Calm down, hombre. Drop the rifle, and get on your knees!”

“No!”

(Mister No fires a warning shot) “Don't try anything, or I'll blow your head off with the next one!”

“I give up, gringo. Don't shoot!”

“Keep your hands above your head. Then kick the rifle closer to me. Move!... Good boy. Now sit on the floor and cross your legs. I have some questions. How many of you are there? And where are the others?”

“You won't get anything from me, gringo.

“Look, Mister No!” (Uriaga shoots a pistol at three men approaching.)

“Hit the dirt, guys!”

Sniper giving up his position is the worst thing he could have done!  Keeping him around so he could hinder your escape is also a bad move.  It gets more engrossing by the page!
