DescriptionThere was already tremendous buzz around this excellent graphic novel by the time I got around to reading it, and I was not disappointed. Trung Le Nguyen weaves a complex story out of the elements of his life, including myth, immigration, and identity. The result is absolutely captivating. A great read for the whole family.I was very pleased to pick up this opening page, with it's themes of travel and duality of place, which were a constant in my life for many years. In terms of the artwork - it's absolutely sublime. In person these pages are delicate and precise. Trung is represented by Sean at Athenaeum Comic Art, and has also been producing some amazing commissions. Social/Sharing |

That's gorgeous and so well thought out. I'm not familar with the source material but based on this page alone, I'm adding it to my reading list.

I'm digging the chunky inks in the bottom panel - looks like a beautiful coloring book.

I've tried to leave it all behind me
But I woke up and the page was beside me
And the book believes it so I guess it's true
Some feelings, they can travel too
Oh there it is Le Nguyen, sitting on my desk
Magic’s hard to catch my Fish
I scramble for the life of change
You're always on my mind
You're always on my mind
And I never minded being meant to go
Then something wrote from me and I wanted dual homes
To be there for art
But even closer to you, you’ll see the fairy art
And now I'm reaching out with every note in inks
And I hope magic who flew on some pacific Nguyen
Wraps itself around you with flowers everywhere
Tells you that I miss you as a Fish that’s here to there

Those lines...less is more approach that's a lot easier to say than pull off. Definitely pulls you in...and makes ME want to keep reading. I gotta look into it! Great looking page, man, congrats!
