For this latest batch of commissions, Scott mostly chose scenes from a list of favorites I’d given him. However, I always encourage him to draw any scene he’d like, and this time around he picked this one.

As to why this scene, Scott said he wanted to draw another page with Cap in costume. He also enjoys getting to draw the other Avengers, so this scene afforded him the chance to draw the full team.

One of the great things about leaving choice of scene to the artist is being surprised when they deliver one you would never have thought of. Especially when tackling a sequential commission, as a scene like this would never work as a pinup.

It was actually Scott who put the idea of sequential commissions in my head. He asked me if I wanted it to be sequential the first time I commissioned a scene from him, but at the time I had only been getting single image commissions. So, I left the decision to him and he decided to stick with the single images already in my collection.

However, the more I thought about it, the more I wanted to see artists bring the screen to life as a comic page. And Scott takes that one step further by bringing them to life using the comic versions of the characters, like his big, beefy Thor here. Plus, as always, his storytelling is top notch. I especially like his choice to go borderless on the third panel.

A humorous vingnette that Chantler romanticized here with the gentle line and light tones showing the banter that bonded them and made them a team.
