Description

Fun page I recently picked up in a trade with a buddy… X-men gold 1 had a bunch of untold stories of the X-men from various points in their history. This page is from a story Featuring Sunfire and Banshee a few days before Giant Size X-men 1 … I find it interesting because these two characters while being two “New” X-men , they were the only characters that were introduced in the intial run of the original X-men . Both originally villians in the beginning … both were redeemed into the new lineup! The two characters even having similar paths really have minimal interactions so it’s fun to see them together . Pat Olliffe does a wonderful job on this page showing them battling.. even though pencil only the lines are clean and strong and that last panel of them going head to head is wonderful!

Really fun pick up and great call on these two early X-Villains who became part of the "New" X-Class, they should have included Mimic. Oh well.

With retro themed work on Untold Tales of Spider-Man under his belt, Olliffe was a great choice to handle a story set in the past as he even chooses camera angles from the artists of the times like Kane and Adams.
