The Bat-Man: First Knight #3, p.20

As usual, a fantastic choice of page from you Jason. Everything from this series has looked absolutely gorgeous. 

Congrats! That last panel....

What an incredible page.  In looking at the OA, I honestly believe that the story should never have been colored in the publishing.  The first time I clicked on it, I really had to stop and think about what exactly I was looking at.  My first instinct was to simply label it as photorealistic art.  But that's just too easy and way too damn obvious.  And really it's a disservice to the work.  It's almost as if he took a series of photographs and inked over them.  The shadows and textures (and details) are INCREDIBLE!  And I love the touches of blue.  Again, all the color this page needed.  I have a wonderful love/hate relationship with these kinds of pages.  Because even though I'm a cover and splash guy, seeing something like this always makes me feel like I'm missing out by not buying panel pages.  Congrats on being so much smarter than me.  And congrats on this brilliant piece of comic art.

If I had to put it all together and describe what I like best about Mike's work on this series, I think it's the look of the overall whole that impresses me the most. The effort he put into these pages, ably aided by having had more lead time than he has ever had on any other project, is simply beyond reproach. He essentially "built" 1930's Gotham (New York City) from the ground up, creating an atmosphere so realistic that the reader can't help but fall into this world right from the first page of the first issue. The basic framework of the city (ie, buildings, vehicles, clothing, etc.) is so SOLID and accurate that one can't help be pulled into the story whether they like it or not, and once you're in, you're in until the story concludes. That's how strong a hold this world that Perkins has visually created, has on you. I'm so glad you managed to get a page you loved so much, Jason, especially after the huge risk you took in waiting until the final issue before grabbing one!

Truly magnificent work by Perkins here and a great choice from the art I saw available. The amount of sheer technique Perkins brings to this page is pretty staggering. I probably read about 5% of all currently published Batman books but I'll add this to the mix, if only to marvel at Perkins's work.

Outstanding!  You're right...we got a great Bats, front and center, but the city takes no back seat!  Way to set things up up top, then the middle panels progression, then BOOM.  Love how the 2 in the car in that last panel are drawn only in grey tone...there, but not in comparison to the Bat-Man!  And I don't think I knew these pieces were that big - wow.  Must look that much better in person.  Congrats!

Great page, from the atmosphere and architecture to the Wolverine shot (sans claws) in the last panel but what I like best is probably that windshield indeed.

I am totally fascinated and mesmerized by this page!!  Mike Perkins brings his A game to everything he draws, but this page is next level.  You couldn't ask for anything more, with the beautifully drawn city buildings and autos, the smoky misty feel, the men in the car, and then...the Cped Crusader himself! And you say it's huge too?!  You must be over the moon with this one!!  Well done!

Extraordinary! As dark as it has to be. I love it!
