Description

Nyoka shimmies her body against the wooden pole to fray the ropes confining her. She escapes a watery doom, de-hypnotizes the captive field workers, and captures the evil plantation owner, preserving "the democratic way of life" in the West Indies.

By now, the editorial comments on page 6 are familiar to us: "Fix Nyo face and figure" (panel 2), "Fix Nyo figure" (panel 3 and again on panel 7), and "Get more speed in all" (panel 7). Hey, where did Nyoka get her gun?

Then on page 7: "Arms on native look stunted and crippled. Fix!" (panel 3) "Fix figures" and "Nyoka too lanky! She really should be standing up as she has just picked up the camera. Improve her figure!" (panel 6). This must refer to a different pose from the pencil preliminary. The final panel has one last "Doesn't look like Nyo face and arms." The pencil underdrawing remains and shows her much higher in the frame, which would not have left enough space for all her dialogue in the word bubble above her head.

Nice form tackle by Nyoka, but the rule changes in the modern NFL would result in a 15 yard penalty if it was fourth down against the mighty Mahomes.
