Description

9-2024...Very cool page by legend Darwyn Cooke! This "lost page" would have briefly explained what Adam Strange meant about keeping a magazine after Dr. Thompkins let him out of Arkham Asylum (pg10) and before knocking on Ray Palmer's door in the middle of the night (pg13). The magazine cover Adam reads is shown on the published pg13, very likely taken from this page and in the story looks like it was scanned on top as a bit of an afterthought to explain the magazine. Here we actually get a glimpse of Ray Palmer's dwarf star technology which will be crucial in disposing of the alien menace! The published pages 11 and 12 switch back to focus on Hal Jordan/Green Lantern.

After his Silver Age appearances, I feel no one drew Adam Strange better than Darwyn Cooke! Also very cool is the bottom panel is drawn just about life size where you could - and I imagine Cooke did - hold the art in the same place where Adam Strange holds the magazine and it matches perfectly!

Looks so cool with the magazine within the magazine device used. Great example of the work Darwyn Cooke put into his magnum opus.
