Description

Jose Varese isn’t a name I was very familiar with until I saw this piece come up in auction. If you search him you’ll find mostly cheesecake art. This piece to me seemed to be a more conservative example of his work as I’m not a cheesecake collector. What struck me is how intricate and precise his linework is. The crosshatching is next level and there isn’t an errant line anywhere. This piece just seemed so polished and put together to me I couldn’t pass it up. Oh yeah, she’s pretty nice to look at too. So on Thanksgiving, I’m serving up this feast for the eyes. Enjoy!

I must confess, I do enjoy some cake from time to time. I've been after a Varese piece for a while, but most have a little too much frosting in the chest area for me. This piece here is just right. I'm glad I never saw it at auction and needlessly drove the price up on us both. Perfect. Congrats, and Happy Belated Thanksgiving.
