Dan Smith was a genius. Part of the “famous women” series published in 1927, titled “Hero, Priestess of Venus.” Huge art — 27 1/2” x 21 1/2” on heavy board. Thanks to Steve Staszower for letting this one go.

Dan Smith didn't miss. Every one of his illustrations finds its mark to evoke realistic history or epic fantasy done to beautify any subject he touched upon.

Breathtaking! I love Dan Smith's drawing of Hero, Priestess of Venus. Hero has a winsome beauty from another afe. I love the way Smith drew her on the rocks, looking seaward with a palpable yearning. The seagull flying in front of her is a nice touch. Superb pick-up, congrats!
