DescriptionCaptain Marvel by artist Mike Machlan.I have a soft spot for Captain Marvel. I wasn't a regular reader of Captain Marvel comics but I did pick up the occasional issue where he made appearances, All-Star Squadron 36 & 37, DC Comics Presents Annual #3 to name a few. It wasn't until the Power of Shazam graphic novel and series that followed it, by Jerry Ordway, that I read a Captain Marvel book. Mike Machlan was a good solid artist. He drew great classic looking superheros, in the same vein as Jerry Ordway, Dan Jurgens and John Buscema. Mike sadly passed away in 2023. I bought this from Jim Warden in 2023. Jim is helping Mike's widow sell some of Mike's drawings to help her cover expenses. Most have sold, you may have noticed an uptick in Machlan art appearing on CAF, as they were very fairly priced. There are a few left here... Mike Machlan and Jim will occasionally add more (if he has any left). 100 percent of all sales of the artwork go to Mike's widow. I remember Mike Machlan from his time as inker on Infinity Inc and I enjoyed his work. I have few Mike Machlan pieces in my gallery, all Infinity Inc related of course. My Mike Machlan art Billy Batson transforms into Captain Marvel and faces off against Dr. Sivana, Black Adam and Mr. Atom by artist Mike Machlan. On a 12.5X17 board. Undated. Machlan really brought the spirit of the Silver Age with all of these illustrations!
