Description

As the year quickly comes to a close, it's a reminder that everything comes to an end. Even life itself. And that's exactly what this page here represents. The one ending that we all know we will face, without exception.

The life of the super-hero set is one fraught with danger, so death is just an expectation you should always have. But this one was a surprise, as no one saw this coming. The "death" of Jolt of the Thunderbolts struck like, well... the teams own name. It's a very emotional shot of the rest of the team (in their civies, not their "union suits"), as they pay last respects to one of their own. It's a very humbling image, which invokes feelings of loss and reflection, the way most endings tend to do. Mark Bagley does a beautiful job of conveying the turmoil and sadness of the team in a single image, without a single word of dialogue spoken (although there are some captions in the published version, shown in the image below, but I think I actually prefer the image this way). The moment is palpable in its melodramatic intensity. It is an excellent example of how you don't need big action, to make an impactful moment.

Of course, this wasn't truly the "end" for Jolt, just as much as the end of tonight is not the end of time itself. For super-heroes, just like the calendar year, refresh themselves over and over. But it's always important to stop and take stock of what has been, to reflect on what it means to us and where we go from here. You just have to know that nothing goes on forever... except the infinite! Think on that, as you watch the clock countdown and that ball drop in Time Square tonight. Happy New Year's Eve to you all!

I know it looks dark now but wait until her teammate steals her body from the morgue.

Even Jolt Cola couldn't survive the cola wars.  Then again, they must have used the chemical properties of of modern energy drinks to revive her down the road.
