Description

Shawn Crystal is simply underrated. He's finally starting to get the attention he deserves, but there are still too many people sleeping on his talent. I've had amazing luck commissioning Shawn. Some of it is because he pours all his passion and talent into each piece, while some of it is vibing together on the right subject matter. I considered for a while where my interests and his aligned before commissioning him for this. I love his inking, but he has gone to the next level with the color palettes on his paintings - creating truly unique works of art. Plus he's just an amazingly kind guy.

I had the pleasure of chatting with him at OAX 2025 and watching him put the finishing touches on this latest masterpiece. Thanks to Shawn, and also to Jason at Essential Sequential for putting this together.

Crystal goes with watercolors that are rich and deep into the foggy atmosphere!

Wondered who the lucky commissioner was for this piece. Got to see this at OAX and it really is beautiful. The combination of color and composition shine and not to mention it's a great commission choice. Shawn absolutely nailed it! (with a wooden stake!)

Hot damn. I'm used to seeing the smaller pinups from Shawn - this full painted scene is excellent! Love the palette.
