DescriptionAl Milgrom and Dell BarrasThis is the first issue after John Byrne suddenly left the Hulk title back in the mid 80s. It was a quite a shock to my younger self. I hadn't really felt the impact of an artist change in a series. Sure, it happened other times. But, to me, this was next level. From issues 314 - 319, John Byrne was killing it! The incredible detail, the amazing fight scenes and especially Doc Samson. When issue 320 hit, I could not believe it and I don't recall any mention of John Byrne's exit. I guess why would they in this type of situation. So, The Incredible Hulk 320 was burned in my memory due to this blindsiding change and the thought of what should have or could have been. Back then, I had no idea what the effort must be to keep a book on schedule when the writer/artist abruptly quits. That sort of thing didn't occur to me. Now, I appreciate artists like Al Milgrom and Dell Barras that do their best to step in and keep a title going when needed. Thanks for creating this Al and Dell! Social/Sharing |
