DescriptionLast year I came across not one , but two examples from an artist whose work I had not previously encountered.I love cheesecake as much as the next person, but I rarely have any in the house. A little slice can't hurt though, right? A fellow CAFer kindly shared the contact information and I began a very pleasant exchange with Mr Koufay's rep, Oksana. We had quite a detailed exchange regarding a potential commission, which was quite a change for me as often I provide little to no direction. I did know that I didn't want to bring another Karen into the world, and we settled on this glorious concept, which I'd chance to say Mr Koufay quite enjoyed working on. The picture really doesn't do this piece justice. The figure is absolutely luminous, and the fabric and textures are sinfully rich. I won't get tired of admiring this delight any time soon. It's larger too, measuring 18x28. Mr Koufay paints on stretched canvas and that's how it shipped (super securely and beautifully presented), so it can instantly go up on the wall, and a nice frame is going to elevate it even further. Praise Kier! Optics and Design are going to be jealous of this one. Update - After receiving the painting I pretty much immediately sent it to be framed. After I finally got it back, it sat close to my desk so I could enjoy the incredible details. After a few days I noticed that the right elbow (with the hand tucked behind her head) had actually not been finished before the artist moved on to varnish. It seems to have been color blocked, but not detailed. The rep and artist were both dismissive about this oversight, which is a shame. I can understand human error, but not denial. What a pity. I don't even know where to begin. She's a vision from head to toe. The "spotlight" he put on her really brings all the gorgeous detail to life. Simply stunning.

Frazetta did his Queen and now this beuaty from Koufay. You lucky man you! The fabric and color and lighting are stunning! Being a foot guy I stopped by to visit lots of times. 9/8 is my birthday and I thank you!

gorgeous work. it's hard to pay tribute/homage to Frazetta on anything let alone one of his most famous works, but this suceeds in it's mission without being a recreation/copy of the original work. must be so much better in person but it looks plenty great here. congrats!

What a striking piece! Even from the photo, you can see how Koufay played with light and texture to create that “luminous” quality you mentioned, especially on the figure’s skin and the metallic accents in her attire. The blue and gold palette really underscores the Egyptian theme, but also gives the painting that rich, luxurious feel. The draping fabric, in particular, looks almost tangible, like you could reach out and run your fingers along the embroidered patterns and actually feel the texture! The gold jewelry, headpiece, and those delicate details on her sandals, or the metallic 'straps' going up her lower legs that are usually attached to sandals, really highlight the opulence.
Commissioning a piece like this can be a fun departure from the usual “just let the artist run with it” approach. I have to assume that sometimes at least, those extra details and back and forth conversations with the rep or artist result in exactly the mood and setting you’re after. It sure seems as if Koufay poured all his heart and skill into this commission. The image may not capture all the subtleties of the brushwork and sheen, but you can tell it’s a painting that would be even more breathtaking in person. Congratulations, Mikail, it is truly stunning!

Such an incredibly beautiful piece of art. Congratulaions on this! I love how he incoporates your thoughts and ideas in the painting, and then he goes beyond what you would expect. Just, WOW!

Breathtaking! What a beautiful painting of an Egyptian Queen! I can see why you'd reference Frazetta, but this painting is really something different. Koufay Queen is gorgeously rendered but less sultry than Frazetta's. I love Koufay's use of color here. The royal blue and gold accents really deperate nicely from the Queen's flesh. I'm blown away by how tactile the cloth of herr robes are, they look like you could almost touch them. The golden jewelry is beautifully painted and almost looke like it's real. Fantastic painting that I'm sure will look great on your wall!

Lol praise Kier indeed! The subject and execution is outstanding! The end result is photo realistic and looks like a piece you would see in a museum. Wow.

Downside of being friends with you and seeing commissions as they come in is then seeing them on CAF and thinking I've already commented. Lemme repeat myself then...STUNNING.
