For my money, Matteo is one of the most impressive talents in the business, and this page from the Mr. Freeze: One Bad Day special highlights many of the reasons why.

Clearly the man has an uncanny understanding of both composition and positive and negative space. Beyond that, however, the amount of texture he created here with his inks is truly astounding.

Among all the jaw-dropping pages from the book, this one really hits home thanks to Matteo's storytelling. Framed by the explosion, Victor is literally and metaphorically burned away and replaced by Mr. Freeze. The photo floating down from the ashes, and the reveal in panel 4, tugs at the heartstrings for all fans of the classic BTAS Heart of Ice episode.
