Description
This original 7" x 10.5" pencil on paper EverQuest drawing by fantasy illustrator Keith Parkinson was used as a preliminary character sketch during the creation of the 1999 massively multiplayer online role-playing game's box cover. The image shows an early design of the high elf paladin Firiona Vie posing with Zavo`Zatanov, a female shape-shifting dragon.

As part of the computer title's Second Anniversary Celebration in 2001, the illustration saw publication on the official EverQuest website's "Concept Art" page, where it appeared on a rough layout draft.

Raised by Galeth Veredeth, a confidante to King Tearis Thex, in the woods of Lesser Faydark, Firiona traveled the continents of Antonica, Odus, and Kunark to gather a team of companions from all different races to restore balance to Norrath.

Parkinson first drew the character of Firiona Vie in a long, conservative dress. While her attire changed, her staff, known in-game as the Lifeguide, remained the same, as did the drake's tail curving around her feet.

The princess of Felwithe, the Chosen of Tunare, serves as the mascot of the game series, gracing box covers, posters, and a variety of merchandise.
