DescriptionA special Hanukkah-sized holiday post to honor comics’s own Rock of Ages, Ben Grimm! How many times do you think Ben has been told, “You make a better door than a window?” Well, here’s Bashful Benji silencing the haters and showing everyone that he can absolutely make a very fine window. By hand.A certifiable senses-shattering spread in brain-curdling 21.75” x 27.25” Hitch-O-Scope (Ben's figure itself covers a 15" x 15" block)! At this scale the piece more closely resembles a poster than a traditional piece of original comic art, and we’d be talkin’ Wall Power… if Ben hadn’t just torn his way through it. (Talk about a revoltin’ development!) All the patented Hitch detail is obviously in play here, but at such a large scale those details are left BIG (not quite so fine) so they can be reduced and not appear muddy (or be lost completely) during publication. It has to be a fun and interesting exercise for penciller and inker alike, and it’s neat to see a highly detailed Hitch spread that (because of the scale) just feels a little looser when you see it in person. Love the heavier inks on Ben’s figure as well (great anatomy and heavyweight stance here), to make sure he pulls all the viewer’s focus (as if there was any danger of that ~not~ happening…). Another amazing Hitch DPS and a great follow up to your incredible Hitch Avengers DPS. I was trying to think of something nice and clever to say about it, but I think you came up with the absolute perfect term. Hitch-O-Scope! There's just no way I'm going to top that one.

Grimm Remodeling at your service! It won't be noticed as much as the great Thing image but I really like that 2nd tier of storytelling going on in the super wide panel at the bottom of the page. Congrats on another killer Hitch DPS, Cam Smith must have had fun with this one when it showed up!

What a fantastic write-up (As usual!), and what a double page splash! Ben bursting through the page is pure joy, and that heavier inking really gives him all the weight and presence needed to makle him stand out from all the wreckage surrounding him. Seeing it at that Hitch-O-Scope size must be incredible. Funny enough, the image of Ben even reminds me a bit of the Cyborg figure on my original cover to New Titans #58, the same kind of raw power that grabs you instantly. Thanks for sharing this Rock of Ages moment, and happy Hanukkah to Ben Grimm and all who celebrate!
