Description

Original art by Hugh Hutton from a WW2 cartoon published October 31, 1939 in the Philadelphia Inquirer. Titled “Just One Bogie-Man After Another” features Stalin, Mussolini, and Hitler as ghosts next in line to terrorize the world. Fabulous brush and ink work on this piece. Great original Halloween WW2 piece as this from such a prominent newspaper that features these loathsome leaders of the time. Hugh Hutton became the Philadelphia Inquirer’s editorial cartoonist in April 1934 and retired from the paper in 1969. Hutton enlisted and served in the First World War. The Philadelphia Inquirer is the third-longest continuously operating daily newspaper in the nation and played a vital role in information leading up to and during the Second World War.
