Description
"What was first just a dream has become a frightening reality for those who may oppose us." I’d waited 30+ years to see Grand Admiral Thrawn make it to the live action screen. So when the comic art for the Ahsoka show adaptation went up for sale, of course I went for it. Steven Cummings penciled half the issues of the Ahsoka run but, unfortunately, only had one issue with the Grand Admiral. I successfully managed to grab one of the pages I was after, but not both. Steven offered up the option for a commission and I took it. This is the perfect example of an artist taking a request and blowing the expectations out of the water. Not only did he capture Lars Mikkelsen’s cool, commanding presence as Grand Admiral Thrawn, but he added a killer space battle in the background. I can just picture Thrawn, overseeing a battle in which he demolishes the New Republic fleet, turns and leaves the bridge, leaving mop up duty to his subordinates. This piece hits on every level possible. Steven also included the prelim, the original pencils, and the finished inks on blue line. Having the three stages was a spectacular added bonus.

He's so cold and calculating that even the space battle behind doesn't faze him at all.  It's so very Star Wars where the conflict is more philosophical and held within rather than with ships and blasters.

This is a killer Thrawn commission. Congrats!
