Description

The final transformation of illustrations for Weapon X to become Wolverine by Dave Stokes.

When I was given this 4th piece to the Dave Stokes Weapon X series of illustrations, this piece fit perfectly for James ‘Logan’ Howlett’s transformation from the weapon animal that he once was when in the Weapon X facility to the “freed” Wolverine that he ultimately became.

Dave Stokes captures this final piece beautifully, as a single image itself, it’s a very well done Wolverine in civilian clothing. But putting it in the series, makes a lot more sense as it is a final drum beat to the cacophony of noise that was once the chaos in Weapon X’s head before he can pretend that he is fine and go about his life among other humans and mutants. There is still something animalistic in this image, not fully upright, a bit Frankenstein and one claw still sheathing back in. Wolverine appears to be walking upright for the first time in ages and almost getting used to this new posture. A great addition to the set of illustrations that speak volumes on this character.
