Atoman: Generations by Mitch Ballard

I've been a fan of Mitch Ballard's commissions for a (more than) few years and this christmas I decided to ask him for his rates because I wanted one character colored and almost without notice it I ended asking for a multiple character commission.

Maybe I should explain that in the last years for almost every commission I've got I've redesigned a character thinking specifically in who was going to draw (a good example is the Stardust commission by Daniel Govar, also in this gallery).

The thing is that with the oportunity to have this kind of commission I came with the idea of show a fake editorial life of a character, my headcanon for that is that each design is the son/daughter of the previous one, I chose Jerry Robinson's Atoman from 1946 to do it (my brother say is my happy place because I've done more than 20 redesigns of him) and decided 5 temporal set ups for the versions (Golden Age's original one, Silver Age, Bronze Age, 90's one and the current one).

For each period (except the original one, of course) I sent Mr. Ballard two designs so he could choose wich one to use, and we talked about different layouts to show that idea. HE, being as he is, only left out one of the designs proposed, what make this drawing something quite more wilds and complex I ever thought.
