Urotsukidoji: Legend of the Overfiend - Toshio Maeda - Cover Art

Original art published in Issue #1, Inside Cover (Japan Manga, Inside Cover, 1986), Issue #10, Cover (CPM Press, 1998) and Inside Cover of Trade Paperback (CPM Press, 1998) – This is a beautiful cover piece by the legendary manga artist and creator, Toshio Maeda from his famous masterwork, Urotsukidoji. Maeda is known as one of the godfathers of erotic manga/anime and made most famous for his work on Urotsukidoji, as well as others such as La Blue Girl. This is one of his earliest pieces for the title, as it served as an inside cover page for the first manga book in Japan (1986). This artwork has subsequently been published multiple times including a cover for the release in the US by CPM Press (1998).

This art piece was acquired from a gallery who purchased it directly from Maeda-san and has some discoloration across the paper as can be expected in a piece of this age. Beautifully done in ink and watercolors on illustration paper measuring 10.25x14.25” with standard markings and wear from an original art piece of this age. Signed by Toshio Maeda on the right side of the image.
