SpongeBob and the Pirates and SpongeBuck BlasterPants comic strip illustrations were originally published in Nick Mag Presents: SpongeBob SquarePants—Buried Treasure! (March 2003) and reissued in November 2005. In my opinion, Roger Langridge’s work here elevates the piece to fine art—a playful tribute to Milton Caniff’s Terry and the Pirates and Dick Calkins’ Buck Rogers. Even more impressive is how much detail he packed into such a small space—the original art measures just 7 x 9.5 inches.
