Avengers (2023) #6 - Cover Concept Prelim (unused) - Art-vent Calendar 2025 - Day 3a!

In conjunction with F M’s ‘Doodle Week’, I wanted to take a few days to present a similar assortment of con sketch confectionery, delicious doodles, and candied commissions to celebrate the holiday season here on CAF…. We’re back with another festive, goofy, goody-laden, OA Advent calendar…. Here’s the return of the ART-VENT CALENDAR (2025 EDITION)! :)

Wednesday is Captain Marvel day! The good Captain takes her team of heroes into the stratosphere (ably assisted by the cosmically powered Stuart Immonen) on a killer (but unused) cover concept design prelim.

The cover design / selection process is always an exciting one. Glimpsing the behind-the-curtain view of an artist working through concepts or ideas (with the fast and loose, high-energy sketches that are always a part of that brainstorming) is super cool, and it’s a fun “what if?” moment to imagine how a different editorial choice could have given us a completely different image to associate with a (possibly beloved) comic.  I would have loved to have seen this one used at some point in Stuart’s cover run!
