Description

A hand-illustrated and painted artwork of an APC (Armored Personnel Carrier) from James Cameron's Aliens, as drawn and painted by artist John R. Mullaney. This lot comes directly from the renowned cutaways artist and technical illustrator.

This unique artwork was commissioned and published by 20th Century Studios and Free League Publishing for Alien: The Roleplaying Game in 2019. Drawing inspiration and reference from the work of Alien blueprints artist Graham J. Langridge - with whom Mullaney collaborated on a previous APC cutaway artwork - the artist also researched the iconic vehicle's detail using screengrabs from the film alongside production photography of the original prop at Acton power station, as well as photos of the miniatures provided by 20th Century Studios and Alien franchise archivist Willie Goldman. Due to the nature of studio-licensed publishing protocols, this artwork cannot be reproduced for sale as a print, heightening the rarity of the original art.

The artwork is rendered in pencil, watercolor, ink and gouache on 300gsm watercolor paper. Mullaney has signed and dated the artwork. Dimensions: 7.75" x 16" (19.5 cm x 41 cm)
