Interview by Valentin Paquot:........Manga artist, teacher, painter… Susumu Tsutsumi is a prolific artist specializing in erotic manga. Known in France under his pseudonym Tomo Chiyoji, he agreed to discuss his career with L'Internaute.Susumu Tsutsumi began his career as a manga artist in the 1980s and has had an unusual career path. Self-taught, he didn't go through the competition or the assistant stage, and made his debut directly after submitting an illustration to a publisher. His heroines all bear the name Reiko and boast voluptuous figures. The generous curves painted by Susumu Tsutsumi helped him break into the European market. He was the first erotic manga artist to be published in Europe, through the Spanish publisher La Cúpula and their magazine Kiss Comix. The author made his mark on the magazine, where he was published for nearly 20 years. It was in Tokyo that LInternaute.com was able to meet this leading figure of erotic manga, to discover the man behind the pen and brush. A look back at the career of an iconoclastic artist.
