Uncanny X-Force #13 pg 20 (Eaton pencils, Remender story) UXF Team Exiting Age of Apocalypse

From part 3 of the Dark Angel Saga in Uncanny X-Force - My World Won’t Stop Without You, comes this page featuring the Uncanny X-Force team leaving the Age of Apocalypse (Earth 295) and returning back to their world (Earth 616).

That’s a lot of fun things to state. So many things I enjoy all in a single page of art. First off, getting a page from the Dark Angel Saga, still to this day, one of the best modern storylines in the X books. Remender’s storyline and art from Eaton, Brooks, Opena and Ribic were top notch and worked so well together. And to add on top of that all, AGE OF APOCALYPSE, and the end of Earth 295, for now. The cherry on top is getting some cool character art of some of my favorites like Psylocke, Nightcrawler (AOA version) and Rogue (AOA version).

The storyline at this point is the UXF team (consisting of Wolverine, Deadpool, Fantomex, and Psylocke of Earth 616) is on the hunt for a LIFE SEED to save Archangel from ascension into the next Apocalypse as he is the current heir to Apocalypse and implanted with the DEATH SEED. They end up going to Earth 295 (Age of Apocalypse) to find this seed, which puts them right into the post apocalyptic world of what’s left behind, where Weapon X has now taken the throne to be this world’s next Apocalypse. The remaining mutants battle it out, leaving the AOA Jean Grey to contend with her husband Weapon X, forcing the UXF team to go back home and save their own world, abandoning any salvation for this Earth 295. It’s really harsh love story between Psylocke and Archangel (as well as AOA Jean Grey and Weapon X, mixed with Earth 616 Wolverine) ultimately demanding major sacrifices. This page focusing on the later of the love sets ultimate sacrifices, Jean Grey is forcing Wolverine to leave her behind. Logan wants to stay behind to use the last Life Seed to save her husband Weapon X, and if that doesn’t work he wants to take this Jean Grey and Nightcrawler home with him to his 616 Earth, as they both are currently dead. So much good drama, Remender really does the emotions and situations justice!

Eaton does a great job, especially with how Weapon X seemingly kills Sunfire in the upper right panel, with the middle panel silhouetting Jean Grey in front of her Phoenix fire, as she telekinetically pushes Psylocke, Wolverine, Deadpool and Fantomex through Gatway’s portal. Seen more clearly on the bottom panel, which features Nightcrawler and Rogue trying to hold back Weapon X.

Long story short = DARK ANGEL SAGA + AGE OF APOCALYPSE + PSYLOCKE (and AOA characters, some even meeting their end)
