Sin City: Hell & Back #2 pg.17 (1999)
Con Wallace & Esther (& Orrin)

Can�t believe I have finally been able to add a Miller to my collection. This was my first acquisition of 2025, and finally I found the time to post it!

Hell and Back (1999�2000) is the longest Sin City story arc, featuring Wallace, a war veteran turned artist, who becomes involved in a complex conspiracy after saving a suicidal woman named Esther. While it may not be as well-known as other Sin City story arcs, for me it is still notable for its emotional themes, distinctive style, and introduction of a completely different type of protagonist.

I think this piece is a great example of his noir-inspired storytelling, blending stark visuals with introspective, hard-boiled narration! Though my observation isn't new, his use of black and white is absolutely captivating.

So bold and yet so detailed! I don't think Miller leaves anything to chance and he worked out every detail to get the results in his broad brushwork effect.
