Description

Marc Silvestri is an all-time favorite of mine. His attention to detail and line-work in his art is breathtaking. The Magdalena is a Top Cow (Marc Silvestri's Image Comics Studio) character who was introduced in The Darkness #15 (1998). She is descended from Jesus via his marriage to Mary Magdalene. The Magdalena inherits great powers from the royal bloodline and acts as a warrior in the protection of the Catholic Church from the Middle Ages to the present. Here in this piece we see her at the mercy of Dracula and his minions.

Fantastic 90's high fantasy piece that Top Cow's corner of the Image universe played in. It made their properties ready to be adapted to screen faster. The big bat wings made this feel like a statue design.

Killer Magdalena vs Dracula Monster War cover by Marc Silvestri! The amount of detail Marc put into this cover really gives it a majesty that it might otherwise lack. The armor that Magdalena wears, and the cloak around her body are rendered with an incredible amount of intricate detailing. Dracula's face and shirt are also given the Silvestri treatment which takes the cover up above most cover art. The classic pose of Dracula and Magdalena is reminiscent of Superman holding the dead Supergirl and Cyclops holding Jean Grey. Powerful art from Mr. Silvestri! Congrats on a fabulous pick-up!
