CLICK HERE FOR AUCTION LISTING!9-1/8x12" display board has 5.75x5.75" thin artboard affixed w/clear plastic corner mounts. Artboard features pen and ink original art w/image within 3" dia. circle. Art depicts the star of Martin Branner's long-running comic strip, w/hand-lettered "Winnie Winkle" name at right and "Copr. 1945 Famous Artists Syn." pasted stat along bottom. This stat is aged and some trace glue staining as applied. Upper left (outside of art area) has spot of staining, but art remains clean and Exc. Back of display includes separate 5-5/8x5.75" sheet of onionskin paper w/blue/fleshtone colors which, when placed over the bw art, provides the colors for the finished button. Margins of this sheet are mounted w/.25" wide strips of double-sided tape to acetate sheet that can be removed from back and placed over art. Paper has quite a few thin ripple lines, but these do not detract visually. Unique and historic button art. Comes w/example of the pin in custom case for display.
