Description
I find that this is another fitting add for the Halloween season for what would be cooler than a werewolf in space fighting space vampires?

The first insert is fun in that it literally jumps into the action with the breathing cable and the escaping oxygen leading the reader’s eye. I like that John Jameson is making a bomb of his own body ready to deploy on that Quinjet down below.

And explode he does, tearing both his space gear and through those damn vampires with a fantastic sense of energy.

Ed’s werewolf version of Man-Wolf owes MUCH to the Jon Talbain/Garon character in Capcom’s Darkstalkers franchise, Capcom being one of Ed’s main graphic influences (look him up) which is what prompted me to buy this amazing splash.

(Both Ed and I were devouring those Capcom artbooks at the same time/age, it seems).

His sheer ferocity is fully on display here and he even seems to be enjoying himself. Those vampires never stood a chance.

Great sense of velocity as well with some of the poor vampires being tossed far away, adding depth to the scene.

The glorious space setting is quite frankly amazing and Mark Morales ’crisp inks work wonder on Ed’s pencil as always.

Yep Werewolf in Space fighting space Vampires certainly checks many Halloween season boxes! And with some fantastic McGuiness/Morales art no less. Very cool connection/reference to Darkstalkers as well (love those 90s Capcom fighting/arcade games!). One post away from 50 in your McGuiness gallery, wow! congrats.

And yet ANOTHER page by the same artist in your collection! Sheesh, and people often ask me why anyone would want to own quantity of any given artist. To them I say: THIS is why! Why WOULDN'T you want to have as much art from the same artist if you really love their art? Anyway, I love monsters, I love space and I really dig McGuinness, so big props to you for adding another one!

Big and bold McGuiness and Morales action!  Rise of the Lychans in this space faring adventure!  All the glitz and glam of a flagship title is showcased on the page!

Wow! Werewolves versus Vampires--In outer space! That's the best premise for a story since "Snakes on a plane!" To top it off, it's drawn by two of the best artists working today--Ed McGuinness and Mark Morales! Absolutely stunning splash page here! Love this scene of a Werewolf grabbing a space vampire by the throat and choking him to death! Beautifully composed by McGuinness, your eye first sees the Werewolf and then follows down his arm to the Space Vampire gasping for breath. Morales' wonderful inks really make the scene pop! Fabulous pick-up, congrats!

Right?  Werewolf fighting space vampires is one of those "why didn't anyone do this sooner... and more importantly, why aren't they -STILL- doing it?!?" things, isn't it?  And Ed's art here is just as slam dunk golden as that idea.  Just as you say, "explode" is the -perfect- way to describe this thing, as the small upper panel sets the stage perfectly ("fuse" and all) for the enormous explosion of energy and page real estate given over to John Jameson's unique method of problem solving.  (It does make you wonder, though, exactly what the lunar vs. solar lycanthropic hierarchy would be in open space...  Is it just proximity to a moon or sun that determines the state of change?  And will -any- moon work, or is a transformation specifically regulated by -Earth's- moon...?  Can't wait to re-read this issue to get Jason Aaron's thoughts on this: judging by this page, it sure looks like he spent valuable time setting up all those rules... 😜 ).  Fantasmagoric page, Fred!  A 10.0 on the fun scale, with gorgeous inking to support the raw power and energy Ed seems to effortlessly infuse his work with.  GREAT Halloween add, pal!

Ed's Man-Wolf rendition kills.  Really dig the elongated limbs, namely the choking arm here!  Congrats!
