Description

Javier Rodriguez has such a clean style. I loved his work on Defenders since it seemed right out of the 1960s. It was so clean and clear, which fit some of the more abstract stories in that book.

This was actually called a "remarque" at his booth! For other characters with more colors, he only did a headshot. I guess for Rhino, he thought that the full body was appropriate since gray would be carrying the show. He seemed happy with "the classic" as my request for style.

In Defenders 4, he and Al Ewing illustrated the archetypal versions of heroes and villains. Guess I have the prototypical smasher now!

Completed at NYCC 2025.

Great rampaging action with Rhino in midstride! He's bulging with muscle, but is compact with power!
