DescriptionIn this comedy sequence, Julia can't get a word edgewise as her assistant Emily Jones (Whoopi Goldberg) argues with their cab driver: “Instead, go down Ivy Street and then turn right towards the stadium.” “We'll never get out of there alive; there are eight traffic lights timed in sequence. If we hit red at the first one, we'll hit red at all the other seven too. It's better to go via Lavender Road, then we'll hit Magnolia Avenue, where there's only one stop sign, and the rest is all clear.” “Up to the pedestrian zone… After that, will you carry us on your shoulders?” “No. We'll go through Jasmine Grove. If there's no traffic in front of the courthouse, we'll turn into Blueberry Lane and take the Gentian Bridge...” “The hospital is to the northwest, and you want to go east!” “Of course, so we can take the loop to Providence. It's faster than going through the city center.” “Emily, let him decide the route.” “I worked for two years at the land registry office. I know this city like the back of my hand!” “What do you mean? I may never know what I have in my pockets, but I can navigate the city with my eyes closed.” “Keep them wide open instead. Turn onto Pansy Road, towards the central post office. At the intersection with Jasmine Street, go straight.” “Didn't they tell you at the land registry office that that's also a pedestrian zone? You can only get around it from the riverside.” “Excuse me...” “Okay, then let's take this blessed riverside road.” “Excuse me!” “Impossible!” “Why ‘impossible?’” “Friday is market day. There are stalls everywhere, even in the middle of the street!” “Excuse me!! Any road will do, as long as we get going!” I particularly like the cutaway bird’s eye view in the first panel on page 20. Check out the hand gestures and Julia’s wrapped ankle. The “David Pigeon Parfum” Easter Egg makes another appearance as well. Social/Sharing |

I don't remember this scene from DC Cab. The actor liknesses keep this road trip bickering to well timed comedic banter as they take two pages before they even move an inch.

You'd think Audrey Hepburn would command more respect from cabbies.

Arguing with cab drivers is a tradition around here, reminds me of the pre-Uber/Lyft NYC days! Get that ankle taken care of damnit!
